Cat skiing and skinning!!!!

I’ve had an amazing past few days. My dad was in colorado and took my brother and I Cat Skiing at Chicago Ridge yesterday. Then this morning I got to skin up Vail with my dad before saying good bye. The day before Cat Skiing I tried to get back into some power lifting for off season strength training and my lower back/quads are kinda sore. I didn’t let that slow me down on yesterday’s cat trip though! It was such an amazing day with my dad and brother, shredding pow and smiling ALL day! We got 10 epic laps in with a small group and awesome guides. Every run was untouched powder and it did not disappoint! The guides promised fried baloney sandwiches for lunch which turned out to be steak, baked potatoes, soup and salad, even cheesecake dessert. Lots of epic bars went down before and after and lots of slashing and laughing in and above the trees. We had the best views of the entire Sawatch range the whole day and I couldn’t shut up about running 14’ers and Nolan’s 14.
This morning it hurt to walk up the driveway walking the dog but I was able to put on my wet snowboard boots and skin up Vail Mountain with my dad and man I’m glad I did. I love starting the day off with a good skin and the sun was a shining! Winter in Colorado is a beautiful thing and this life doesn’t get much better!

I have been super busy with work and the holidays but have gotten some great runs and skins in lately. 2014 was an incredible year for me, completing my first 50 mile race. I look forward to going even farther in 2015. I have been enjoying an “off season” and snowboarding a lot but right now I have a bad cold and am writing this from a sauna as I try to sweat it out,
