On St Patrick’s day I went for a run in West Vail and brought my Sony a6000. It was still snowier than expected out there but it was a beautiful sunny run anyway. I love this camera (Selfie with iPhone) and can’t wait to get it out on some more runs!
Saturday I ran my second snowshoe race of the winter at the Krueger Family Shamrock Shuffle 10k put on by the Vail Recreation District, sponsored by Icebreaker Vail and some other great brands and businesses. There was a fantastic dinner and open bar after with lots of great prizes. I took third overall and had fun. It was a though flat race with lots of post holing. I went out first chasing a kid in the 5k then was first to post hole and break trail on the only climb. My northern lites with neoprene booties worked great!
Sunday I slept in then drove west till it was dry and 60 degrees. I checked out berry creek over in edwards with rooster. I love that climb and love my Altra lone peaks on some dirt!
Had a sick snowy run with the rooster the other day. I planned on just going out and back a section I usually only come down but ended end poopin the section for about 5 miles in 2 hours. There was a lot of knee and waist deep wallowing and post holing. I was wearing my Altra lone peak 2.0 with Darn Tough socks, Altra gaiters and run yak Traks. The gaiters and yaks failed, collecting snow underneath the gaiters and the yaks Velcro wouldn’t stay closed then I lost the left one while post holing around a moose. Oh yeah, we saw a moose. Coming to the top of the sandstone section behind where I live there was a big bill standing in the way munching on branches. He seemed like he didn’t want to move for us so we went around finding the trail downhill. It was a solid snowy adventure run in my backyard. I was using my sweet new Mio Alpha 2 trying to push it even though the snow was a little deep and I probably should of had snowshoes on. I had a Epic Liver bar along with some green tea and coconut oil for recovery after.
Yesterday I was working at Peak Performance Footwear a running store in Edwards, CO. I got in a short run before as I like to always get a run in before working at the running shop. I took rooster out red sandstone road just to the gate and sign on the way back to piney road. Even though I was only out for about 35 minutes and 4 miles it was such a nice run with great snow and views of Vail. Perfect way to clear my head before work. I also got some great pics.
