5/3/2015-Hiking Brush Creek/run in the rain

Last Sunday my girlfriend and I tried to check out the Fulford cave by Eagle, CO. We made it way out Brush Creek Road in the Sylvan Lake area too Yeoman campground where the road was closed. We ended up hiking around a little pond with the dog. It was a little snowy as its early season and that made for a little adventure with some post holing on the way back. It’s always fun checking out new places. It’s a beutiful campground outside of Eagle, CO. We had some Benderz Burgers after which is always awesome.

I have been trying to get back into steady training weeks running wise so to cap off the week I woke up from a nap to go run in the rain. It was storming out pretty good but I wore my Northface rain jacket and love running in the rain anyway. I was comfortable and mostly dry, listening to some good tunes as I ran around the empty streets and bike paths of Vail. It was peaceful and a nice end to the weekend.

I am getting ready to move back home to NY next week. I am looking forward to being around family and starting a new career. I have had an amazing almost 6 years living in Colorado and it’s been life changing. I am looking forward to more running back east and seeing what the future holds.

5/2/2015-Denver Trails(watch out for Rattlers!!!)

Last weekend I went down to Denver on Saturday and scoped out some trails by Red Rocks for a few hours. I had my girlfriend drop Rooster and I off at the Matthews/Winters park trail head just before noon and it was pretty packed. I wasn’t used the Denver crowds but the trail was nice enough so I was complaining! We found a nice loop around the Red Rocks park with some nice hilly technical trails and great views of Red Rocks. I was trying out the new  Ultraspire Titan 2.0 and carrying my Sony a6000 camera. I did manage to fall pretty good once cutting up my knee and hip. My was a little dirty and my sunscreen exploded inside my bag but, it was all good and we kept on running. We went across the street attempting to check out the Dakota Ridge trail. This was also busy but had awesome views on both sides turned out to be some more amazing trail, right down in Denver! I was getting ready to come out another trailhead and maybe loop through red rocks but we came across a Rattle snake and turned around! We made it back to the trail head and hung out in the stream until our ride came. We got about 8 miles in and my Altra Paradigm felt awesome! I was using Vfuel gels and some Justin’s Almond Butter.
